Night Vision
I recently picked up a PVS-14 monocular. I hadn’t used night vision since probably ~2011-2012, when I was deployed to East Africa with the Army. Of course, some friends and I arranged a night hike with kit to shake down our gear. It highlighted that I’m not in the shape I need to be in. Part of that is due to an injury, but lately that’s been a crutch I’ve been leaning on. I also was reminded how operating under NODs is a whole other skill set: I ended up falling off the trail, not realizing how close I was to the edge where the trail wasn’t as compact. Embarassing, but not as embarassing as making this mistake when it counted. Get out and train, use your gear. Make mistakes now so you’re dialed in later.
